Concert Recap: Taylor Acorn ‘Good Enough’ Tour with World’s First Cinema

The sold out crowd at Rebel Lounge got loud for World's First Cinema and Taylor Acorn.

Rock & Roll is alive and well, World's First Cinema and Taylor Acorn proved that at Rebel Lounge on May 5th. There was an incredible energy, practically making the walls shake. World's First CinemaA violin and a indie rocker walk into a bar, and World's First Cinema is born. This band is so much fun, and Rebel Lounge definitely felt it.I've seen violinists on stage before. But with John Sinclair, I was absolutely mesmerized by his playing, as was the rest of the crowd. He plays with such a passion, it's beautiful. However, that passion doesn't stop with the violin, it seeps into every part of his performance. There were so many moments where he had a smile on his face of pure joy looking into the crowd. His passion is matched only by his talent. While Sinclair hyped the crowd up, gu...

Concert Recap: Smallpools & Grayscale at Crescent Ballroom

With help from The Romance and Caroline Romano, Grayscale and Smallpools rocked Crescent Ballroom.

A spectacle like you've never seen took place at the intimate Crescent Ballroom. Smallpools and Grayscale brought their magic to Phoenix for 'The Night Shift Tour'. Joining them on this leg was pop-punker The Romance and pop star Caroline Romano.   The RomanceStarting the show was New Jersian artist The Romance. His sound is a classic pop-punk sound. It's full of emotion and doesn't hold back. With a song like "Fu2urface", he absolutely turned some heads. The crowd started off a bit slow and low energy, as it goes. The Romance absolutely turned the vibe around, having the crowd head-banging and jumping by the end of his set.Pop-punk music is meant to disturb the peace and contrast the status quo. Current pop punk artists doesn't always feel like they captures the essence of the cl...

Concert Recap: Benson Boone “Fireworks and Rollerblades” at Arizona Financial Theater

Benson Boone brought his rockstar energy to the loud crowd of Arizona Financial Theater.

Hearthrob rock/popstar Benson Boone brought his "Fireworks and Rollerblades" tour to Phoenix on April 29th. Celebrating his new album, the show may be one of the best I have ever seen at Arizona Financial Theater. It was a bittersweet time, meaning now I can't listen to his music on Spotify because it sounds better live! Which is the entire purpose of concerts, in my opinion.Adorned in denim jeans, a matching denim vest and the cutest pink nails,  Boone walked across the dark stage, sitting down at the piano under a single blue spotlight.  The erupting crowd went silent as he sat. His fingers drifted across the keys, playing the opening to "Intro", before bursting out of his seat as the song picked up. Seamlessly, he transitioned into "Be Someone". /*! elementor - v3.20.0 - 26-03-2024...

Single Review: “Doesn’t Matter” by Caroline Romano

The newest single from Caroline Romano feels like a cautiously carefree summer situationship.

Caroline Romano doesn't know how to stop evolving. With the release of her latest single "Doesn't Matter", she's proving that she is a versatile, innovative, powerhouse. Romano combines an indie-inspired, subtle synth backing, with a casual percussion, and dreamy vocals to master an alt-indie-pop sound, feeling new and exciting.Hailing from Nashville, Romano isn't new to music by any means. She released her first single at 15 years old, titled "Masterpiece". At around 18 years old, she found her moment to make her mark on the music scene with her single “I Still Remember (ft. R3HAB)". From then on, Romano has proven herself in the industry, constantly evolving her sound and finding new ways to make unique music. Her latest single is no different. "Doesn't Matter" tells a story of falling ca...

Concert Recap: Palace with Jens Kuross at The Van Buren

British alt-rock band Palace lit up the Van Buren with Jens Kuross

Jens Kuross Idahoian singer-songwriter Jens Kuross sat down at his lone piano, the stage swallowing him. The crowd hushed in anticipation, many admittedly never having heard of him. But man, were we blown away. Kuross's sound is smooth and soft, floating around you like a feather. Despite the "lack" of concert antics, it was hard to not be enamored by the man on stage. His musical and energetic presence is larger than his physical scenery. He plays his piano with a passion most reminiscent of a classical pianist. His voice sits perfectly with each note. While listening to him, I felt transported to a different world. One that felt like cares drifting and life being enjoyed - genuinely. Simplicity does not equal boring nor less than; Kuross proves that. ...

Song Review: Debut Single ‘twisted play’ by Piper Connolly

A young rockstar with a mature sound, Piper Connolly has stepped on the rock n' roll scene in a big way.

Piper Connolly, a 13 year old rockstar from Phoenix, has released her new debut single “twisted play”. The song beautifully captures the feeling of escaping the confines society has on you and learning how to be who you are - a deep yet important topic for someone so young. Despite being so young, Connolly's sound is mature, having been described as "Adderall-laden cotton candy” and compared to legends like Avril Lavigne and Paramore. Connolly takes influence from early rock n' roll and grunge and its evident in this debut. Throughout the verses she maintains a deep tonality with her voice that plays well off the rhythm of the drums. Even though she is young, her voice is rich and soulful, feeling much beyond her years. It definitely still has room to grow, but it's evident that she...
